Second Grading Project Guide

• This activity is about Graphing Linear Function given two points.
• Knowledge on the Parts of Cartesian Plane is an advantage.
• They will be exposed to a series of online assessments/tests.
• They will be required to download presentation files and documents.
• Some activities are only for registered students of the author’s class, while some take a similar test without entering the class by simply clicking on the different options on the page that will be displayed by the link.

EXPECTATIONS

• At the end of the series of activities, they are expected to attain mastery level in the following:
• clear understanding of the Parts of Cartesian Plane;
• using the PC in taking an online test on plotting points on the Cartesian Plane;
• plotting points on the Cartesian Plane using graphing paper;
• making a presentation using any available presentation program.

• Unregistered students may click on the options that will be displayed on the page.

This section will offer visitors a presentation file available for download elaborating about the topic.

How about Trying This Activity?

This section will require visitors to have a hands on activity about the topic. They will need graphing paper for plotting the pair of points. Another presentation file that answers the activity will be available for download.

ACTIVITY #3:

This section will require students to make a simple presentation file showing the graph of a linear function given two points. A rubric will be used for rating the project and be made available for reference.

CHALLENGE:

This section offers the students an online assessment at http://www.thatquiz.org/
which will automatically process the results. Such assessment is only for the registered students of the author.

Compared with Activity #1, this is time bound.

• This activity is intended for students who want to experience Graphing a Linear Function given two points.

ACTIVITY #1

Note: This activity is intended for registered students of the author’s class but anyone can take a similar test without entering the class. Just simply click on the Points option that will be displayed on the page.

Click on the following link. http://www.thatquiz.org/tq/classtest?ZCGE3380. Follow the instructions below once the webpage is displayed on your screen.

1. On the new page, look for the students’ field on the center. Click the drop down arrow and look for your name on the list and click.
2. Enter your password on the password field.
3. Below the page. Answer the 20-item online examination.
4. Use the mouse to navigate the cursor.
5. When you are done answering the test, you may click the Finish button to view the results of your exam.
6. The results are composed of 2 tables, one is the statistical result and analysis of the test, and the other is the incorrect responses.
7. You may click on any point which you missed and eventually the correct answer will be reflected on the Cartesian Plane above.
8. If your score is below 75%, you have to retake the test without entering the class. Just click on the following link.http://www.thatquiz.org/
9. Click on the Points Link at the center of the page.
10. Again, use the mouse to navigate the cursor in taking the test.
11. When you are done taking the test, you will be prompted if you want to see the correct and incorrect responses.
12. If you opted to continue taking the test, you will not be able to progress unless you are able to click the exact location of the point on the Cartesian Plane.
13. Close the webpage window if you are done with this activity.

Do You Remember This?

1. In Geometry, one of the theories states that, “Two points determine a line.”
2. It clearly implies that given any 2 points, a line can be formed by connecting those 2 points.

Using a sheet of graphing paper, plot the following pair of points. Using a ruler, connect the 2 plotted points to form a line. Put arrow heads on the lines.

1. (-1,2), (5,-3)

2. (3,3), (-1,-3)

3. (-4,0), (-1,-1)

4. (0,-2), (4,-1)

Let’s get your hands wet. How about doing this simple project?

1. Make a presentation using any presentation program available about graphing a linear function given two points. You are expected to come up with a project similar to what you have downloaded in Activity #2.
